CAM and CCC Form Alliance to Enhance Safety on Redford Township Project

January 9, 2026 - The Construction Association of Michigan (CAM), Commercial Contracting Corporation (CCC), and the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) have entered into a formal alliance aimed at improving workplace safety and health for all tradespeople and subcontractors involved in the Redford Township Central CSO RTB and Collector Sewer project.

This strategic alliance reflects a shared commitment by both organizations to create and maintain a safe, healthful jobsite environment through leadership, responsibility, and accountability. The initiative will increase awareness of safety practices through prominent on-site signage, the promotion of safety training opportunities, and collaboration with CAM representative Tracey McLenon and MIOSHA’s Consultation Education and Training (CET) staff for routine site safety audits.

“The Construction Association of Michigan is proud to partner with Commercial Contracting Corporation on this safety initiative,” said Kevin Koehler, President of CAM. “A trained and informed crew is key to a successful project, and this alliance supports that goal.”

At the heart of the agreement is CCC’s robust safety and health program, which will serve as the administrative backbone for monitoring subcontractor and employee activities. This includes the use of pre-task analysis to identify and control predictable hazards before work begins.

“Our goal is an injury-free workplace,” said Michael Axtell, Senior Project Manager at Commercial Contracting Corporation. “We believe that can be achieved by inspiring a culture of safety, promoting open communication, and conducting frequent inspections that address both existing and potential hazards. This alliance with CAM reflects our commitment to the highest safety standards and demonstrates how partnerships benefit everyone on site.”

While CCC will maintain governance over the daily safety practices, the alliance reinforces that all parties—including subcontractors—remain individually responsible for complying with the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Act (MIOSHA).

Together, CAM and CCC are setting a precedent for how large-scale infrastructure projects can prioritize safety through teamwork, foresight, and accountability.
